Hi, I’m Steph!
I’m a freelance children's illustrator based in West Berkshire in the U.K.
I started working as an illustrator after I graduated from the University of Lincoln with a degree in illustration in 2012. I worked predominantly using screen prints and had absolutely no idea where I fit in the illustration world.
So, I moved back home!
I started screen printing from a makeshift desk in my parents garage (which was freezing cold in the winter!) with part time jobs in a shoe shop and later a busy secondary school. It was whilst working and teaching at the school that I started experimenting with working digitally and found my home in children’s book publishing.
I have worked in educational and non fiction publishing, illustrated a picture book, licensed work to clients around the world and even screen printed a calendar for a huge Italian energy company. In 2015 I travelled to India to work with the fantastic charity Katha at their annual Utsav, leading workshops with the children there. In winter 2017-18 I was selected as one of the faces of Not On The High Street’s ‘Thoughtfully Made Sale’ campaign.
My love of travel has taken me to parts of Central and South America and Europe.
All of these experiences have lead me to where I am today as an illustrator; passionate about creating quality, non fiction illustration for children.
I have a particular interest in maps, travel and history and would love to work with YOU on your next project!
